Blog 101
Friday, February 17th, 2006101 blog posts eh? Woohoo! Crack out the champagne and stuff. Even though this actually isn’t my 101st blog post. No. It’s something a lot more than that, but the point is that it’s the 101st blog post on this site. Funnily enough, I didn’t even notice that the last post was number 100. Yes, I should pay more attention.
But back to the point. I’ve been doing this blog thing since May 2005, so around 9 months now. That’s more than enough time to gestate a human baby for crying out loud, so I should be well on my way to “getting” this whole thing called “blog.” Am I? Of course not. ‘S f**kin’ inscrutable, s’what it is.
Angry Chimp
Sunday, July 17th, 2005People say to me, Neil, they say, how the hell do you stay so damned cheerful all the time? Well, let me let you in on, for now, just one of my secrets.
I ask you, what could provide more laughs than an Angry Chimp?
We’re not dealing with a grumpy baboon. Nor a gruff gorilla (too alliterative). Not even a livid marmoset. No, we’re talking about an Angry Chimp, and one that can provide you with some quite extraordinary and hilarious insights into the world.
He works from the basis that things are really quite fucked up, when you look at them, and then he fucks them up some more. The resultant twists somehow manage to stay squirmingly close to the truth no matter how third dimensional they become. It’s always scintillatingly well observed, and occasionally even funny. I mean, always hilarious.
There are many ongoing serials running through the blog, including:
- the brilliant Strangeways Here We Come
- the biting Truth Via Greeting Card
- the lampooning Missing Scenes From Star Wars
- the provocative and intriguing What Say You
- the almost heartwarming woof
- the uncompromisingly satirical We Love Each Other
- and the seriously surreal Dalek & Borg
All this, along with many a topical satirical explosion, and still yet more besides. I don’t want to over-egg this pudding, but you would be stark staring mad to miss it. These are the forms integral to the eclectic and curious madness that is: Angry Chimp.
Jabazillion
Monday, June 6th, 2005“Jabazillion” … A word that speaks so excitedly of it’s own meaning that I have no reason to define it, only enjoy it, savour it, love it. (more…)
Go Be Nice
Saturday, May 28th, 2005I’ve seen the Internet grow since the early 1990s, but I’ve only come to the fold of blogging this month: May 2005. I’ve seen message boards and forums and chat rise like mushrooms, and take on the very qualities of mushroooms – i.e. leave ‘em alone unless you know what you’re doing! (more…)
